June 4-6
Chicago (Hilton, Rosemont)

LegalShift, LLC.’s sponsorship of the ACC Legal Ops Conference in Chicago on June 4-6, 2017, focused on its broad array of management consulting and advisory services for corporate legal departments and law firms.  The 2017 ACC Legal Ops Conference, acts as the principal gathering of in-house legal department operations professionals.  This was the third annual meeting for ACC Legal Operations, a membership division exclusively dedicated to legal operations executives. ACC launched the section in March 2015, and membership has grown by more than 40 percent since the inaugural conference later that year.

LegalShift’s Scott Rosenberg and Dan Safran, alongside Ravi Kiran Mamidanna, Operations Director and Senior Counsel, International Legal Operations at Abbott Laboratories, presented on the topic of “How to do Legal Project Management”.  This presentation is believed to have been the first of its kind to share an actionable plan and approach to integrating Legal Project Management (LPM) into Matter Management workflows.  As opposed to the many industry presentations that describe what LPM is, this presentation shared true life, task based experiences and provided a “how to” guide for law departments.  Abbott’s Mamidanna shared his experienced on “Making LPM Work” in an international corporate legal office setting in support of LegalShift’s “how to” presentation.

LegalShift heard from many participants that they felt the LegalShift/Abbott presentation offered exceptionally practical applications for LPM.  Numerous attendees remarked that the LegalShift Legal Project Management methodology and applications were the “best they had seen in the legal marketplace”.

“We are pleased to continue our support of the ACC Legal Ops Conference, the legal marketplace and our clients, by helping improve operational efficiency in both practice and legal operations. , said Dan Safran, LegalShift’s President and CEO.  The current disruptive legal market change provides a great opportunity for operational improvement within and between the co-dependent parties in the legal supply chain – law departments and law firms.  Scott Rosenberg, LegalShift’s Managing Director and Corporate Counsel commented, “While corporate legal efficiency opportunities abound, we believe a “killer application” solution to be the adoption of Legal Project Management practices.  LegalShift’s methodology, according to one corporate legal associate general counsel “has achieved upwards of a 30 percent reduction in spend and a corresponding 50 percent reduction in matter duration’”, said Rosenberg.  “I’ve not seen a return bigger than that…”
